I overclocked my Venice core Athlon 64 3000+ to 2.02 ghz, I lowered the RAM speeds to PC-2100 speeds because it crashed at PC-2700 speeds. I'm planning on upgrading my value RAM to something better once I get some money, but this overclock increased my 3dmark 05 score by about 20 marks.

im sure you can do at least 2.4ghz, juss use the 2:3 memory divider and all should go well ;)

how exactly do I find the memory divider? I don't see anything in the BIOS that looks like it, I'm using the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra with Phoenix Award BIOS.

In the spot where you lowered your RAM speed to "2100", there should hopefully be some option to lower it even more. That's actually the "divider" right there. PC3200 (aka DDR400) memory runs at 200 MHz, which is by default at a 1:1 ratio with your HTT (since your CPU is originally 200 MHz * 9 = 1.8 GHz). Setting it at "2100" should give you a ratio of 2:3, or 2/3 of whatever you're running your HTT at.

What kind of RAM do you have? If you have cheap DDR400 SDRAM, setting your RAM speed to "2100" and overclocking the HTT to 300 MHz would still leave your RAM at a stock 200 MHz. Of course, 300 HTT is pretty extreme, so your motherboard or CPU might not even handle that. A more plausible config would be RAM at "2800" and 240 HTT, which also leaves the RAM at 200 MHz.

I've got Kingston Value RAM (PC3200 DDR400) in my system, and I'm actually running it at 205 MHz. I've got the same CPU as you, and it's currently at 280 MHz * 9 = 2.52 GHz.

Good luck :)
