First timer looking to build a new DAW with a side of gaming..was wondering if all these parts are compatible and if I can raid 0 the hard drives with this build...

No sound card at the moment because I am also somewhat of a production noob so I'm not sure if i need a soundcard or if i can just use http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Audiophile2496-main.html as my card for listening to playback and using it for midi slots (connecting a keyboard etc..)

Looking for suggestions on the MOBO (is it ok?) and any issues with compatibility and any add-ons that would give me better performance...and if everything will fit in the case.

Thanks

How much are you willing to spend?

Since this is going to be mainly a DAW machine I assume color reproduction and black levels are low on the priority list? ~$250US can get you a 20in TN panel widescreen Dell. ~$300US can you get a 22in TN panel widescreen Dell. Both have native resolutions of 1680x1050.

A nice high quality large widescreen moniter would be good to see all the mixing, recording windows etc...around 300 US 400 cdn.. I'm still just a noob though but from what I see i notice some people run miltiple moniters when using a DAW...but I'm just starting out so ill stick with one =p I should also add that it would be awsome if I could hook up my Xbox360 to the moniter and use it for that aswell..

xbox? in that case, go for the dell. if you have more cash, go for a westy hdtv :D 2 monitors would definately be easy to setup, even if it is your first time.

Drop the GXS 700W and go for something without as much ripple. Check out jonnyguru.com for more info. I'd suggest the Corsair 520W or Sunbeam NUUO 550W (much more affordable if available to you).

If you want to run raid, you can with those drives. However, it would be best to use some WD RE2 drives isntead, since they're optimized for raid usage.

The X1650Pro isn't worth its price. Go for the 7600GT instead if you do any casual gaming. Otherwise, look for the cheapest PCI-E card you can find, most likely a GF6200, hehe.
