I am seeing a lot of mixed reviews. Some people get everything solved immediately while others have to fight with the company for months. Is it worth getting a sager over say an Asus G73/53sw?

Basically I have my laptop search narrowed down to the NP8130 or G#3sw anyone got opinions on either?

also maybe I should wait for the Llano processors to get here for cheaper gaming?

I don't know about Sager service, but Asus notebook service is the WORST in the business. They make a great notebook but pray it never needs an RMA.

Perhaps that is how they keep prices low compared to the competition. If anyone else can weigh in on my questions it would be much appreciated!

well two people telling me to stay away from asus is enough for me.

that limits my choices to a sager np8130 or alienware m17x I suppose. Sager is cheaper and better but alienware is a bigger brand.... opinions?

I actually just got a np8130 a few days ago from xoticpc and I couldn't be happier with it. xoticpc answered any questions I had quickly..

I haven't dealt with sager's customer service though so can't really comment.

both are great peices of hardware......afaik sager is a good all around company, so i would assume good CS, but i've not seen a thread here yet about a sager failing :D alienware, well you will be getting dell CS.

Care to elaborate? I'm a bit surprised since their mobo service is excellent.

well my mobo service with them has been pretty poor to the point of not using asus for desktops anymore. Thought their laptop division might be different but I suppose it aint.

Mobo died in my G73. Great notebook BTW. Sent it in for RMA took a month got back and it worked fine but the fans ran at 100% always. Loud as hell. I dealt with it but after a few months I began to investigate and found out a temp sensor on the cpu was bad. Every temp sensor software showed 104C on one sensor and NB_Probe (Asus Software) said fail with audible alarms. So sent it in for RMA #2, took a month got it back they changed the heatsink fans and the GPU (I have no idea why, it worked perfectly), turned it on and guess what same problem fans ran at 100%. They sent me a sheet of all the test they ran but the stupid fuckers never even checked the cpu temps. So I take it apart and discover that they put way too much thermal compound when they changed the cpu from they bad mobo to the new one in RMA#1 and it damaged the temp sensor on the cpu, (notebook cpu's have parts of the electronics on top of the cpu as well as below). Sent it Back for RMA#3 on May 20th and they said it would take months to get a replacement cpu so they are buying it back from me and I am still waiting for the money.

They were nice enough on the phone but the techs are retards and can take forever to get anything done.

cliffs: Asus tech service sucks balls. YMMV. but I will never risk it again no matter how great their products are.

OP - As was stated above, I have never seen a thread here or on Notebookreview about a sager tech service horrors story. On the other hand check out their asus owners sub forum.

The companies listed above are great. A great forum to find more info is notebookreview.com
