How good is this pump?

About the same maybe a little better specially if you use the #5 or #4 accelerator plate. According to the pq curves it has as good or more pressure at flo rates below 1.5 gpm and it dumps less heat into the system. It is also a bit quieter, and is what I use with my RBX w/#5 plate.

I would opt for the DD D4 /Swiftech MCP650 pump instead. They both have about the same head but the D4 has 317 GPH and the one you're looking at only has 185 GPH. The D4 will serve you much better.

All the extra flow of the D4 will do in modern med to high restriction block is add more heat to the loop. The only real advantage the D4 has is its 50k mtbf and its not known on the mcp600/AquaXtreme 50Z. The main advantage the MCP600/AquaXtreme 50Z has over the D4 is its quieter and uses less current/makes less heat.

Here is a good thread on pumps Cathar has started.
