How faster is the new Catalyst?

I'm sking for a very... old version.

Let me explain. I got a better video card for my 2500+, and put my 9600 pro in my 1800+, but kept catalyst at 3.9 (I still had the driver exe file...).

I notice catalyst 5.1 is out, and I am wondering... Would it be faster then the 3.9 the 9600 pro currently uses?
 
Depends on the game you play, some games with it will be tons faster (like css, hl2, d3, etc.). I'd rather use 4.12 though since 5.1 is somewhat slower than it and it has that riddick texture issue ;j.
