How far we've come

The Voodoo's filtered nice... but that's why 3dfx died, they had one product and failed to iterate.
 
Voodoo had (banding) pretty bad until ;.later iterations I remember some faux 22 bit color option on one of them mighta been Banshee...until Voodoo5 which did do true 32 bit color.

The Geforce256 changed my world in terms of gaming, it was a huge leap over my single Voodoo3 card. Plus it was awesome to play Descent 3 with 3d glasses, well minus the splitting headache I'd get!

Yeah, the step-up from a Riva 128 to Geforce 2 GTS was massive.

Sacrifice, Evolve, and Giants in particular blew me away in 2000/2001.

Shaders and T&L FTW.
 
Riva 128 had some banding fuzziness as well, I remember it being alleviated a bit with the ZX but not completely, and the ZX had 8 mb vs 4 mb on the 128 iirc. I had a Diamond GTS at one point, it was a great card for the time.

Asus? I had 3D Glasses that came with an Asus Geforce2. It worked in all Directx 3D games too and not just DX9 and up games like the Nvidia3DVision we have now.
 
I believe it was an ASUS, it had bulky 3d glasses that had a wire that plugged into a 3.5mm jack on the card itself. It worked well for what it was.

True. Amazing how the tech worked back then better when it wasn't so mainstream.
