how far should i go

i have a ati radeon 9700Pro stock 325/310 stock i raised it to 335/320 and seems to be ok....but it has stock cooling and i don't plan to add any 3rd party cooling...im using rage 3d tweak to overclock....is it safe to crank it? how far could i go? stock 325/310
 
Every card & pc configuration (case, type & placement of fans, ps, etc) is different.

Take it up 10 Mhz at a time on each maybe.

I'd say 390/340 or so, more then likely. Maybe more.
 
ohhh my god! i just scored a 3700 on 3dmark 2003! thats my lowest ever and this is after i raised 10mhz on my card core/mem what gives?
 
Something is wrong. Did u use detonator destroyer to get rid of nvidia driver trace residue? Or reformat?
 
i did a full reformat and fresh install of xp home sp1. i lost 1000 points after i raised 10mhz on core/mem

i have AA and AF to application not on...but i have antivirus AVG and zonealarm running in the backround does that matter?

help
 
the cat 3.10s won't let me turn up agp voltage nor agp fastwrites both are OFF
 
ahh man i had rage 3d tweaker messed up my resolution and made my refresh rate to 40hz im reinstalling cat drivers :rolleyes:
 
soo basically i got only 1000 point increase when i upgraded from a FX5600nu to a R9700 Pro.....
 
You can see in my sig what I have been doing with a 9600 Pro. I should hope a 9700 Pro could do at least that.

You are doing something wrong. Click CUSTOM tab in display settings (Cat 3.10's) then move VSYNCH slider to far left, make sure its set to optimal performance & hit APPLY.

For D3d & Open GL.

You should be hitting 5000 to 5500 with a good overclock. Forget +10 on core/memory, do AT LEAST 50/50. You will NOT damage your card. On my retail Pro (with stock ATI hsf on gpu) I overclock 106/40 on core/memory.

yeah right i raised the clock to 400mhz and mem to 340mhz and my card freaked out i was getting artifacts and errors up the ass. so i turned it down.... im staying at 335mhz core and 315mhz mem....now i will run 3dmark 2003 again
 
i only raised 10mhz on core and mem i raise 5mhz i notice a few very slight artifact if i raise the mem up 10mhz
 
here is my 3dmark 2003 scores on a ati radeon 9700pro 335/315 running 3.10s at 60hz/ 1152x864 res. vsync off aa/af off. i got a score of 4770 on 3dmark 2003 is this more reasonable?

btw i used the newest version of powerstrip for OC, rivatuner and rage 3d tweak sucks.

I'm running a BBA 9700pro(samsung memory). I'm using Omega Cats 3.7 and running the card at 324/310.5. With all that, I'm getting a score of 4853 on 3dmark2k3. My system is my sig below.

I'm not sure why your score is low. You did mention that you didn't have the samsung memory on your 9700pro. Maybe that could effect the score. You could also do some tweaks like adjusting some settings and see if that would help.

well you have about 90 points higher than my 9700pro but im running 3.10 cats you are running 3.7 why don't you run 3.10s?

The problem was that it would load any video when in a game. Games such as Halo, Half-Life, and GTA Vice City.
