How does your keyboard stack up?

Try the ghosting tool here: http://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/content/projects/KeyboardGhostingDemo.aspx

I have a few different keyboards and looking to buy. I tested my Saitek Eclipse and it won't even do all four movement keys at once (WASD). My Logitech G15 isn't much better.

Saitek Eclipse ghosting result:

S will not show if A-W-D is pressed.
W will not show with A-S-D pressed.
If T-R is pressed, nothing else in the top row works but keys below work.
If A-S-D-F are pressed, only one other key in the bott row works at a time, but not G and H.
If A-S is pressed, the Z and X will not work.

Logitech G15 (first model) ghosting result:

Q-W-E-R-T-Y pressed together will prevent the rest of the top keys from working
W-E-A-S-D-Z work if pressed together but nothing else will.
W-A-S-D-Z-X work if pressed together but nothing else will.

Basically, both have weaknesses but the G15 was better at ghosting, but key spacing totally sucks on it for my fingers and the macro key rows totally throw me off.

How is your keyboard stacking up?

I mashed both of my hands on the keyboard and it seems like most, if not all the ones I pressed worked, including the combos you listed.

Filco tenkeyless NKRO.

Pretty interesting to mess around with. My MS comfort curve 2000 seems to do ok.

Thats fun. G510 reads QWEASD all at the same time, ,but 6 seems to be the limit, which is more than Ive ever needed to press at once.

6 simultaneous keys is the limit for USB keyboards unless they have a built in chip for it like the Noppoo Choc Mini has.

My understanding is that the choc mini does it by tricking the OS into thinking it's multiple keyboards or something silly. I have a model M and an eclipse, both of which are popular enough that you could probably google what key combinations are legal.

If leopold full-sizes ever come to the US, I'll probably pick one up (mmmm nkro)

1987 IBM model M every combination I tried worked :}

I have an '87 (april) model m as well. You shouldn't be able to get wsad all at the same time, or at least I can't. I'm pretty sure m's aren't nkro

I could press any six keys I wanted and it worked fine. Any combination. Das Keyboard Professional with Cherry MX Blues.

One trouble with the Microsoft test is it doesn't distinguish left/right modifier keys and leaves out a few.

Regarding the Model M I can get UP TO 8 keys to register but it fails ASX.

If you read the pages article, it explains the limitations of HTML web apps...

I don't know what you guys use, but mine is mad ghetto. This baby is from back in the day when compaq made PCs (they probably still do). Its like 2003 or 2001 or something like that. Custom built computer and a keyboard to go with my little beast build. yeah yeah.. lol

A better to program to use is AquaKey.

On my current 1st gen Logitech Illuminated I can hit 6 keys at once (max with USB connection) including W+Shift+Space.

Newer versions of same keyboard don't allow it for some reason.

I just ordered Filco Majestouch2 and wristrest so that will be quite a change.

Full NKRO with my Filco Majestouch Ninja via PS/2.
3-6 KRO on my Lenovo T420s depending on what keys I press.

Right. 2KRO.

Regarding the post title my keyboards stack up fine.

I get 6 with my trusty G510 even tho it advertises only 5, so yay Logitech.

I'm still waiting for the ultimate keyboard. Buckling springs + NKRO = $$$$
Come on unicomp it's your chance to shine!

I just got the Micorosft X6 Keyboard and let me tell you...I love it. Typing is easy, the red lighting is absolutely great: big knob to dial light from off to almost way too bright and big knob for volume.

The ghosting...not an issue at all. I can get keys with all my fingers to read simultaneously. It's better than the Gen 1 Logitech G15 board I have and way better than the Eclipse I have.

I think I like the X6. (no, it's not mechanical but I can separate the number pad if I want.)

looks like full NKRO on my PLU ML-G3000-NKRO via USB (tested with microsoft link and aquakeytest).

Microsoft Natural 4000 can do any combination of 6 keys (qweasd, qwerty, combinations of 4 multipliers, 123456, you name it)

"Up to" doesn't mean squat when it comes to NKRO measurements.

It's what you can always do that matters.

Good advice for life too.

my keyboard which is a cheap Logitech internet navigator can only pull of 3 characters at a single press oh well did not buy it for gaming originally

My noppo choc mini seemed to work fine in any combination I tried. Even in num and function.

I have a Dell SK-8115, its so awesome it can register up to 3 buttons pushed at the same time! lol thats how mine stacks up. Was free though.

My old (blue) G15 seems to support every 6-key combination I tried. Never noticed any ghosting problems so I guess 6 is enough for me.

I love my G15 so much.
