How does this setup look?

I am getting this setup at ww.dangerden.com. How well would it cool my AMD 3200+, and would it let me run full voltage for overclocking with much cooler temps (because I am getting a 226W Peltier).

Also, should I get a fill port and use extra tubing to fill it instead of a reservoir to save money? Sorry for all the questions, but also does a radiator or a heatercore work better? Thanks, I am new to watercooling, I have done lots of research, but I don't know what's really good, and what exactly to get.

I think with that 226w pelt you are going to overload the Micro Ice II Rad. Also be aware that you need around 15 Spare Amps on the +12v rail for the pelt.

I have another power supply, 400W, and I think 18 Amps on the +12V rail, and it will probably be dedicated to it. Also, I chose the black ice micro II because I have 2 80mm fan holes in the back of my case, although, if a heater core works better, I could use that, with some mods, or I could get a bigger radiator and mod my case a little bit.

the DD TDX is not compatibel with peltier modules, the maze 4 is. specifically the maze 4-1.

the black ice micro II takes 80mm fans, not 120mm fans.

even if you got the black ice pro II, which does take 120mm fans, i can say first hand that it is not enough. you need something like the thermochill 120.3 or the black ice pro 3.

the micro is nowhere near enough.

why have you ordered a Y fitting? you do not need/should not use a Y fitting in any kind of normal setup, or a peltier setup for that matter.

what PSU do you have, that you think will run the pelt? is it rated for 25 amps, on the 12V rail? that is what you need, so if the PSU cannot do it, then you can't use it for that appliceation.

you should probably get more tubing than that, just so you do not run short. i also can say that you will almost certainly want to try re-plumbing for one reason or another within the next year.

you need a bigger pump to run effectively with a pelt in the loop. water in the block heats up one hell of a lot faster with the combined heat input of peltier and CPU, than with CPU alone, necessitating a large pump to keep it at optimal opperating temps.

i like T line instead of resivoirs, but that is a matter of preferance. use what you like.

ok, thank you very much for pointing those things out, as you might guess, I am kinda new to this stuff.....hmm...maybe I should jsut drop the peltier setup for now? and get a maze4-1 so I cna upgrade to peltier later...I will think, but thanks for pointing those things out.

i had a lovely little thread about what happened to my hardware as a result of jumping straight to peltier cooling without the necessary know-how.

please try normal water cooling for a while, with a good water cooling block like the RBX or TDX.

additional issues: dangerden does not offer a neoprene kit for a64, sunon fans do not last terribly long (in my experience) and even a 226 watt pelt will hardly keep you below ambient.

Oh, I remember reading your thread, sorry about that man, that looked ugly. But yeah, to get every necessary, it'd be over $500, and I would like to spend no more than $350, so I am getting some other stuff, but would a black ice micro II with 2 80mm fans work fine with just a DD TDX?

however, as i recently pointed out in another thread, the black ice pro has more surface area than the microII.

a single 120mm heatercore has more surface area, and costs quite a bit less than either.

a double 120mm heatercore would be a wise choice, if you want some room to upgrade.

as i have pointed out so many times: that meltdown was around a year ago. i'm over it. i'm not looking for sympathy. i am just trying to help others to avoid my mistakes.

thermoelectrics are expensive. build with the capacity to upgrade, and maybe get the necessary parts as you can afford them in the future.
