I've been messing around with the idea for a while, and I'm basically convinced to do it. Already putting the old setup up in the FS/FT forum.
Anyway, here's what I'm thinking about building.
Red items are on hand.
Blue items are requests for more info.
Chassis: Lian Li V1000B (black).
PSU: Custom Built PC Power & Cooling 450W
CPU: Athlon 64 3200+ (reccomendations on a heatsink?)
Motherboard: Asus K8N-E Deluxe nForce3 250 motherboard (Anyone know if Abit will have a MAX series NF3 250GB?)
RAM: Corsair Value Select PC-3200 (1gb) (the RAM did 220 in my Shuttle..it seems many 3200+ are stopping around 220...so I'm doubting a need to upgrade)
GPU: MSI 6800 Ultra (I -WILL- have Dual DVI. And, it looks (so far) like ATI isn't going to help me with that)
Network: onboard gigabit; 802.11G; possible 2nd Gigabit PCI card
Optical Storage: LiteOn 8x DVD+-RW ; LG Electronics 16x DVD (both black)
OS Drive: 36.7gb Raptor (1st Gen)
Games drive: 160gb Seagate SATA 7200
RAID Drive: 4x 250gb WD SATA 700 (RAID 5, provided by onboard on the Asus, or via Highpoint Card if other board is used)
Display: Dual Dell 2001FP w/ Ergotron dual LCD stand / Dell 2000FP for LANs
Sound: Audigy2
Speakers: Klipsch ProMedia 5.1
Peripherals: Logitech MX Duo
Anyone have a reccomendation on a change?
The system will be built in mid July, most likely. If I find out the 6800Us work fine in the shuttle cubes, I won't build a new system, but rather upgrade the video.
The price for everything is probably somewhere between $2000 & $2400.
I hope to offset that somewhat by selling my old systems. (red items are being used in the new system)
