Well i'm planning to buy this computer pretty soon, so i need your input on how great it is :). I am on a budget, so any suggestions on how to make it cheaper would help. I know for sure that i'd like that geforce 6800 in there. I'm sorry that it isn't a wishlist, because i made it in a hurry... so if someone could kindly make it into one for me, it would be appreciated :rolleyes:

well if i were you id find a better monitor. the dot pitch on that monitor is not good at all. if you are going to be gaming then id suggest you find a monitor that has at least a 0.24mm dot pitch or else your games wont look as good. the page states that the monitor's recommended resolution is 1280x1024. i wonder if by that it means that after 1280x1024 the monitor's refresh rate is lower than 75Hz but i dont know(just speculation). everything else there looks good to me :D.

^ it says that for the dot pitch, which is above 0.24
 
at least, in this case, means .24 or under

the lower your dot pitch the more pixels are on the screen, the cleaner and sharper your images
 
Has the price on comp components gone up that much lately or something? Even with the monitor that seems steep. You're not getting super fancy ram or even a good optical drive and yet its gonna cost that much? Yikes.

all the prices are about right...6800GT's cost a lot though
 
Not bad, but to save youself some money, check out Monarchcomputer.com. You can get a Golden Sample 6800GT (better hs, 1.6ns ram, dual-DVI, higher defualt clock speeds), Probably can get the cpu and ram cheaper there too.

For the hard drive I'd suggest just haunting the HotDeals forum/slickdeals or something like that. Quite often they have good deals. If you don't feel like doing this, I would recomend upping the storage, since going from 80 to 120 or even 160 will cost you minimal.
 
Recommend getting a perfectflat monitor instead. Generally they're sharper and have more contrast than their spherical brethren.

I bought the white version of this Orion for my wife last year. LOVE the monitor, and can't beat the price for a real flat screen monitor. No problems so far - sharp, clear, bright and high contrast.

I say you bump up your optical drive to at least a Combo Drive. With that type of setup, u do not want to be stuck with just a CD Rom.
