Hey everyone. I'm going to be building a system for the first time in a few days and am looking for some feedback on my selected parts. Here's what I've got planned so far:

Case- Cooler Master CM Stacker w/ side window and Crossblow Fan- $231.00

Power Supply- Antec NeoPower 480W PSU w/ sleeved cables- $159.00

Motherboard- Epox EP-8KDA3J w/ nForce3-250GB chipset- $99.00

CPU- AMD Athlon 64 3000+, Newcastle CG Revision (hoping to overclock this to around 2.7GHz on water)- $172.00

Hard Drives- 74GB Western Digital Raptor + 160GB Seagate Barracuda- $283.50

Video Card- GeForce 6800GT (from whatever manufacturer has it in stock)- $400

RAM- 1GB (512MBx2) OCZ Enhanced Bandwidth PC-3700- $315.00

DVD Burner- NEC 8x Dual Layer +/- RW Drive- $76.99

DVD-ROM- Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM Drive- $30.99

Floppy Drive- Sony 1.44MB 3.5 Inch Floppy Drive- $10.99

Keyboard/Mouse- Logitech Cordless MX Duo- 69.00

Sound Card- Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS- 85.99

Speakers- Logitech Z-5300 THX Certified 5.1 Speaker System- $133.00

Monitor- NEC/Mitsubishi FE2111SB-BK 22” Diamondtron Monitor- $569.00

That's what I've got planned so far. Anything you guys would change? Thanks for any advice,

looks nice, but why do you need floopy anymore? notthing fits on floppy or comes in floppy. :D

Yeah, but you never know when you might need one and for 10 bucks it's not like it's putting a hole in my pocket or anything :)

Thanks for the feedback,

get a case with no window in it and mod it yourself......unless you dont want to mod it  .........and then take out a few of those things.....and give the money too me :p ........GOOD LUCK.......

DREW

Heh, this is my first build, I don't want to start cutting holes in my case on my first build. Overclocking and water cooling is already much more than I should be attempting :)

Thanks for the advice, and I'll mail you your cash on Wednesday :p

i assume your using the raptor for OS drive and the seagate for storage? have you considered getting something bigger for storage, maybe around 250gb or so?

Im thinking a better Mobo.

Here are my choices:
1. MSI K8N Neo-FSR Motherboard w. Nvidia nForce3 250Gb - $109.00
2. MSI K8N Neo Platnium Motherboard w. Nvidia nForce3 250Gb - $124.00 (My Pick)
3. ASUS K8V Motherboard w. VIA K8T800 - $103.00

Otherwise, its pretty good.

Yeah, thats my plan (OS on Raptor, Seagate for storage). I'm going with a 160 gig hard drive because right now I have an 80GB hard drive and I've used something like 20GB over 2 years. I think that 160GB will be plenty and if I ever need more I have tons of room in my case to add another hard drive.

What makes you say that the Epox EP-8KDA3J isn't as good as those boards? It's big brother, the EP-8KDA3+, got the Editors Choice from Anandtech and the only difference between the two is that the J version has 2 SATA connectors instead of 6, which really isn't worth the extra $50 to me. If I need more than 2 hard drives, I'll just go with an IDE... it's not like SATA is that much faster than IDE anyway.

Thanks for the advice,

Bump... I'm curious to know why you think that the EP-8KDA3J isn't as good as those others.
