Hey there...I need a windows mod...actually two window mods...I need a big picture of the Windows logo and the Mac logo...the window one has like that waving flag with 4 squares on it and the Mac one has rainbow apple...or have they changed logos???

Anyways what I need them for is the project I'm working on...I'm gonna make a PC/Mac hybrid...it's a PC and a Mac under one case..I can turn both on at the same time and use only one mouse, keyboard, monitor, and sound system...it's a 2-in-1 system that I'm making...it's gonna be cool...and I'll have to do some heavy modding on it too...

So...I'm gonna have two windows (one on the right and one on the left)...the left side will have the PC mobo and cables and stuff and the right side will have the Mac mobo and cables and stuff...I want the Windows logo etched on a window and the Mac logo etched on a window...

Now would I be able to find someone to do that for me or is it easy enuff to do myself or should I just get a sticker or something??? Anyone do custom etching??? THANX
C'YA ?:-D

I do it with ACID!!! lol

You apply some sort of protection to the parts you don't wanna etch (I use a lacquer easily solvable in acetone that's acid-resistant), then you take a brush and thinly apply teh acid. When it's reached the right opaqueness, wash thoroughly (like 15 mins) in soapy water.

Admire your new etching and the acid burns on your skin if you fscked up.

hint: don't use too strong an acid. 15% H2P2O7 in Aqua Dest works fine.

I'd proably do a custom, but as I'm in europe shipping costs would be insane. Sorry.

you could always get it custom etched by a laser
it will look much better, but also very expensive

You could go to Hobby Lobby or a hobby store and get a can or jar of instant etching.

"Blue Fantasy" window was done from koolpcmods. Send em a pic and they will laser etch on a variety of different window shapes'

I've gotten 2 windows from KoolPC. They do gr8 work. One of the windows was a custom Dragon etch while the other was the Red Dragon etch.

there are a couple of ways you can go about this actually. The acid method as people said already or you can sandblast it and get a similar effect. It works for acrylic, polycarbonate, and glass. There is even a company selling a kit that comes with the sand and compressed air in a can, not sure of the name but i'm sure a google search will provide something.

Now here is a trick I learned that is an easy way to transfer designs for sand blasting or even a template for cutting with a saw etc if you do that for future projects. Get the design on some paper, print it using your printer or just draw the design out doesn't matter. You'll need to use slightly thicker paper for sand blasting though. cut out the parts you want etched/blasted. Coat the back of this paper with rubber cement and let it dry fully. Now coat the window/case side with rubber cement as well and let fully dry. Now fit the two together. They will stick and hold instantly and stay together until you peel them apart. Now rub the rubber cement away from the places you want eteched or blasted leaving the bare window or whatever. Just a quick tip, I hope it helps.
