How does MediaId.bin work?

I have a home server with a shared folder called "Backup" for the three other computers in the house to backup to using the Windows 7 Backup & Restore feature, using both the incremental and full image backups. I see it creates subfolders for the incremental backups of each computer, a WindowsImageBackup folder containing the images for each computer, and a file called MediaId.bin. Apparently the MediaId.bin file works with the image backup feature -- but I am curious, if all three computers are making image backups, is the MediaId.bin file simply being overwritten and only the most recently backed up computer is being kept? In other words, when I go to restore, will I only be able to restore the image for the last computer to be backed up, even though all three images are there?
