How exactly does folding work....i have an old P3 Folding and I wanna know exactly how it works....

I know that it utilizes your spare CPU power?

it works just like the system idle process (look in the task manager, process tab). it takes what isnt used and uses it. the main server has data chunks that you download, the prog crunches the data, and send the results back. more info in the distributed computing section...
 
Folding simulates proteins and amino acids folding in microsteps.
It uses floating point or multimedia extensions in its calculations.
