How does changing hose size affect performance?

My whole watercooling setup is going to be 1/2". I was wondering... if I were to throw a 1/4" Koolance chipset block into the lop via adapters, how it would affect overall performance?

I think it'll depend on your pump won't it? If you've got a big enough pump it should be able to push the water through the "restriction". Are you sure you need the chipset block? Or are you just trying to wc everything? Props if you are...

restriction of the koolance block would definitly hurt flow

koolance is a low flow system. Which means weak pump and small tubing across the board.

so really i suppose it depends on the pump you use

It will greatly impeed flow.

Your best bet is to T off the loop, continue 1/2" the rest of the system and drop down to 1/4" on the parrallel chipset circuit then have it dump back into a common reservoir.
