When an Android device runs out of battery power, does it attempt to power down gracefully or just suddenly cut off power?

it usually goes thru a couple of stages of power conservation modes trying to extend the batter from dying.....shuts of wifi, data and the like. IT will power down before it's totally depleted to avoid unnecessary batter wear.

Good to know, thanks. I was actually wondering if it would execute any commands to sign off users, close programs, preserve data, etc -- whatever normally happens during a properly performed power down.

Yep graceful shutdown when <1%

This isn't exactly a new OS. It's extremely refined and has handled something this basic for eons already.

Except that whole whole SD card being used to install app problem apparently :-/
