how does 2001fp colours compare to 2005w

I received a 2001fp last night - seems pretty decent - some leakage when the room is dark (light is off) but not visible when the light is on (most of the leakage isin the right upper corner and since this seems consistent with others comment and has no dead pixel I think it is normal (it is rev 00a nov 2004).

The one thing that i dislike is that the black is not true black. Ihave an lcd on my other computer htat is acouple of years old - while it has more ghosting - it has true blacks (I suspect it is tn while the 2001 is ips).

Anyways - if i remember there was one fellow who had both the 2001 and the 2005 - and I'm curious how the colours compare between the two monitors - does the 2005 have better blacks and in general richer colour - or is it pretty much the same with a different aspect ratio.

Not sure what to do with the leakage - i guess it's not too bad... maybe I'll just keep the lights on.
 
You may have to tone down the brightness of the monitor. For some reason, they ship these things with the brightness all the way to max. I turned mine down to 50% and it looks very good now.
 
Yea i set it to 0% (brightness) and it didn't do a whole lot (digital input) but i turned the angle slightly and the leakage is less visible (almost gone). Still doesn't have true blacks like my older lcd.

Anyways are the colours/black the same on the 2005 ?
 
i heard when using DVI the brightness settings are overriden. so you can change it but it wont do anything. try adjusting the brightness using your video card.

On DVI, Brightness is still adjustable, but Contrast is not.
