How do you fund your fold?

I'm working on selling custom computers! I do plan to try to write off the computers as demos. I have ads in craigslist and will put some ads on ebay. 999.99 for a quad custom built + $$$ for your choice of video card!

So yep this time is burn in time and testing time as I try to sell them.

Nice idea there.. just put slighty above average stuff for 600 total, sell for 1000$ and fold whil you try to sell it. I might try that :p

well i have Gentoo installed in my box along with XP and Vista, so no problem there. I´ll still have to do my homework though, and read about all that stuff

Your one of those people.....

Me, I install and then bash on the computer till it works.

If the other computers are watching after your done with the first..... things go much more smoothly from then on :D

Other than the main home PC, my laptop, and a PS3, my boxen are all borgs.
Income tax refund is about to result in another home boxen. :D

Fold on!

Yeah, I've heard "strong arming" computers does work  . I haven't tried it yet, I need more bullets for my gun. :D

Hmmm. I smoke, I drink, I'm married, & I have a cat (adopted when I got married). Must be the reason I don't have funds.

Just spent $500 on gardening last weekend. Spent another $250 on a lawn mower (still in the damn box, putting it together this weekend). And my wife just spotted a BBQ grill on sale at Sears that we're going to look at after church tomorrow.

I'm waiting patiently (and I mean very patiently, it's been 3 weeks) for a consulting gig. I'm hoping I will hear something this week. I am soo ready to quit my current job. The gig should double my net income and I've already told my wife I will be buying a boat load of computers and my home office will be turned into a server room. Until then, I'm trying to fry my corporate laptop (folding 24/7) and my main rig Q6600.

are u trying to say that SmokeRngs is ugly?

Hey, what's this? I was under the impression "beauty was in the eye of the beholder". I think even the "Hunchback of Notra Dame" had a girlfriend :p

I don't have any real info, I just hear some strange things :D

If all it takes is a beer to make one beautiful, I'm the best lookin guy on the planet:)

Dig around, I started a "show us your mug" thread a while back, and I do believe that Smoke posted up a pic of himself in all his beautiful bald glory.....

Actually, the kid is a damn good excuse for having at least two extra rigs. One rig for his normal use and a second extra one just in case the first goes down. That's after my main rig, fileserver and several spare systems for my own system. :D Sure, he costs money, but what the hell.

I'll second this. My two year old has a dual core sitting on his little desk that folds when he's not playing his toddler games (and also when he does...), and there's one quad sitting downstairs "just incase something happens and his data is lost" or something, I don't remember my rationalization for that one... :D

I'll third this. If I couldn't have used my kids as an excuse for more boxen I would still be folding on only my main rig. I'm not quite sure how I justified a quad for the kids but it worked. They can play elmo games and fold dual SMPs at the same time. I just need to come up with a reason why we need 5 computers in one house now....;) any ideas?

Fileserver, backup server, spare computer, router/firewall, HTPC, if you're on comcast then a local DNS server. Maybe you need a Mac to learn OSX for work.

Failing that, maybe stuff a switch and a dozen mac minis in a standard tower case....

not yet, too busy to check that out yet, but i´m gonna have some time in sunday, so i´ll start reading about folding then, there are things i need to read about like for example: fold in windows or in linux

Start folding for the [H]orde dammit.......

The [H]orde needs more women folding :D:p

Way off topic here.... but you can update NOD to version 3.0 for free.... been using it for a while and it's actually quite a bit nicer than the older version...

i´ve heard mixed opinions about v3.0, i think i´ll just stick with v2.7 for a little while longer ;)
