How do you enter into Administration Mode

I am trying to install the drivers for ATI graphics card (2900XT) but when I get into the install, it boots me out and says "Setup will only run in administration mode. Setup is aborting." I am what I think is the administration mode since I type my password to enter into it. COuld someone tell me the problem? By the way, I am installing the update driver from ATI from 7.10 to 8.1.

Are you in XP as your sig suggests? If so, are you logged in with an account that has administrative rights?
 
You try uninstalling the 7.10 cats first, rebooting, running driver cleaner in safe mode and then install the 8.1s?
