How do you check your RAM peak usage?

Win98 == no idea., i'm using Win98 too, the way i check it is like this:
first, i set my page file as low as i feel comfortable, it was at 50/50 (min/max).

then, i played d2x, and it froze up  , so i reset to 100/100

after typing in "/fps" (w/o the "") at the screen in d2x to check my RAM usage, my page file was using 58MB (hence the previous lockups).

now that i could play stabily, i started up Firebird, opened up 3 windows, started AIM w/ a couple of convos and started QCD (music player).
^--lockup.
reset RAM to 150/150
^-- no more lockup :D

and it's so much faster than when i had my page file set to 320/320 (equal to my physical RAM.)

as for XP, go to here: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=710208
and look for the reference to the page file thread where Phoenix86 did a marvelous job of answering the page file question.

hope this helps :)

With Windows XP just do a ctrl + alt + delete to bring up windows task manager and then click on the Performance tab at the top.

Carnival Forces, just read most of your tweak guide and this, hope you found that info usefull, I'm even happier you sorted through all that info and made a FAQ out of it. Thanks for giving me credit. :D

Right, now watch the LEDs and tell me how many MBs are being used
OK! Right now I'm using 120mb! J/K... He just wanted to know peak usage right?, not how much is being used? Sorry, kinda wasted right now... burningrave101 is right, go to task manager and performance, and look under physical memory. I havent used 98 in a few years, so I have no clue. There has to be a third party program for this somewhere...majorgeeks.com should have something.

hehe *"hmm, that looks like a....150MB hit right there!"*

I think the best you could get out of 98 is resource meter, not very good. 3rd party apps are you best bet there, though it's been a while for 98...
