I was looking over the list at stanford and it says that ive only done 198 WU's
Yet i look at my standing and the people above me have done anywhere between 700-5000.

is my guy somehow cheatin or is there a reason im getting more points per WU.

just seems odd to have 198 when the next closest guy has easily twice as many WUs

Certain WUs carry more point values than others. You can get a lot of little WUs done with little point value per WU or you can do big WUs worth more points per WU. I'm rank 985 in the [H]orde last I checked, but I only have done 101 WUs. Rank is determined by the amount of points you have rather than by the # of WUs. Its just that each WU has a varying point value. If you turn on big packets, it allows your machine to get bigger WUs that are worth more, but take longer to crunch.

Check out this page

Project Summary

It gives the point values for every single work unit there is currently. I have done roughly 10,600 points but have only 65 wu's, mostly because I do the big 300 to 600 point wu's.

Since folding@home has started there have been changes in the point structure. Meaning that you get more points now than ever before, those guys that have chewed through that many WU have been at this a long time. That is why you may find some of long term producers a little begrudged about a nOOb running on by and not showing a little respect.
Since most are mainly concerned about what they are doing and not so much about how many points they have, you wont hear about the huge discrepancy in point value to work produced.
You will see I am a benefactor of the later point value system. My WU That is a good question you asked and I hope this helps to explain why you see some old timers dropping out of the game. Pandegroup has realized that these competitions we have amongst one another are in thier best interest! :p

Be kind to the guy in front of you, and switch to team 33!!!!!!!
I'll even let you fold under my name! :D
