It doesn't sound like you know too much about overclocking, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, what do you plan on ocing up to?

Ok being an ass like this won't help.
First off, please be as descript as possible in your first post. Secondly, I don't believe you can use the pencil trick with XPs. Thirdly, grammar and good spelling make you sound much more mature and much more likely to get an answer. You have a good goal, but I would suggest researching overclocking your chip before you actually attempt it. From what I'm gathering, I'm assuming you haven't OC'd before. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I dunno, the first OC I attempted as on an AMD K6-2 266. Got that SOB up to 450 before it maxed. ;) Still have her, never even really thought about OCing before that. I still have that thing too... School didn't want it, I got it for free. :p

couldn't agree more

obviously our candidate is not familiar with overclocking, or speaking in english, so let's help him out with both of these issues.

That chip is a very decent overclocker, I had one myself, could make 2.3Ghz easy. Now, if you have an nForce2 motherboard (Asus A7N8X, Abit NF7-S to name a few) they will unlock the chip automatically.

Now, I highly suggest you read around our forums and look at some other posts to get a better idea of both how to overclock, and how to speak english. Hope this helps...

one more thing, is overclocking my CPU really worth it? My friends said "Overclocking your CPU is pointless, you wouldn't see a difference, and just wait until my computer is out-of-date and buy a whole new system (in about 3 years). Now Is overclocking my CPU really worth it? Even if i did i looking to buy the Abit NF7-S, but now I'm not sure if it really worth it, what do u guys think?

Overclocking is a lot more than just getting higher performance, it's a hobby. For someone who just wants more performance, its a bit hard to explain, most of us do it because we enjoy the excitement of poshing the limits and coming up with ways to do it better. For some it's about trying to get the highest benchmark or overclock or just trying to achieve a personal goal. So if all you want is a noticeable increase in performance, you may be better off buying a new computer. But if you want to see how far you can go and and what it takes to get there, then OCing is for you.

nicely put.

You dont have to unlock the 2400+ since it's a tbred-b. IF it's locked, you'll need some conductive lacquer and a needle or xacto knife. I haven't tested the 'new' unlock method yet so i'll have to get back to you on that one :p

I'm goign to try it in a few here >:D

I started OCing for the performance boost. I didn't have the money for a 3200+, but I sure do get 3200+ performance out of my $80 chip. ;) It did turn into a hobby for me, and now I have fun OCing old systems and new ones. Performance doesn't matter that much anymore. :)

imo: overclocking is a good idea, when your hardware is just a hair shy of being "playable", then ocing will increase the frames for better gameplay... its always nice to have a little over head too, for those moments where the frames take a deep hit...
and i found it useful when i start using antialaising, then the overclocking really came handy then...

and everybody knows i use all 3600mhz to dominate SOLATAIRE
and folding 247
