I currently have two Supermicro AOC-USAS2-L8E (LSISAS 2008) they both have two port (not sure of the name) which can connect to 4 drive each. ( 2 card x 2 port x 4 drive ) = 16 drives.

But I would like to move beyond 16 drives, how does it work from there? What do I need? How do I go from my 16 sata plug to 32+ ?

My current supermicro case has 8 bay + extra 5 bay fully populated.

I've looked at the Superchassis SC846 to support 24 more drives, but it's somewhat expensive and I really don't need an extra full lengh computer case. Are there any drive only enclosure? I have an extra power supply.
