Hey guys, I am wondering how can I "zero" my hard druve...this is my last attempt to save my maxtor sata..it will not format @ all...yes and I ahve tried SEVERAL programs...partition magic..norton ghost..etcetc..and even windows setup...and they all end up saying... setup did not complete successfully, hard drive cannot be formmated..god..thnx guys.

You mean a low level format? I was told not to do that unless you used the specific software provided by the manufacturer of the HDD. So if you don't have that... well then I'm just not any help. :p

Try using DBAN to address your issues with the Maxtor drive. It may work wonders, but it sounds like an RMA waitng to be done.

Good luck.

Your power supply only delivers 20A on +12. With a 6800GT, 2.2GHz Clawhammer, 2 HDDs, and optimistic 25C PSU ratings, I think a new PSU is in order for your system. Antec's SmartPower line doesn't have a very good reputation. A replacement doesn't have to be expensive. Head over to the Power Supply Forum and see about a solid replacement. They have plenty of stickies to help you out. Please fix that before blaming any more problems on your hard drive.

got my antec 480w truepower 2 the other day...36amps on 12v :) anyways..problem fixed....ultimate boot cd and the included seagate utility fixed it in minutes...
