I'm thinking of doing a PS1 PC mod, like the SNES PC mod, because the PS1 is my favorite console..

I've got most of the components down, but I'm just not sure how to connect the controllers..

Leave it outside and just connect it to the device via usb cable. You should mention you want to replicate the USB port to PS controller while it is inside the device.

How am I going to fit this into a PS1 box?

... you would disassemble it? You can probably find adapters that work for a single controller that might be slightly smaller, but you'll still have to disassemble it and try to fit the PCB inside the case, and you'll then have to get two if you want both controller ports to work.

No, I think that supports two controllers.

I just thought there is a solution that would involve crossing and soldering some wires..

why not just use a bluetooth dongle and a few sixaxis controllers? it's compact and wireless :)

Not possible since they don't have the same wiring
