how do i wipe out my hard drive

my hard drive has a virus and i cant even make it into normal mode only can go in safe mode how do i wipe out my hard drive completly and start from scratch really want to get my other hard drive back up this 1 only a 2 gig i want my 20 gig back plz help :confused:
