How do I update my 7700K firmware so I can enable the spectre fix? Google keeps taking me to an Intel graphics driver 15.60. Is this what I need?

You can't update firmware on a cpu - you have to update the bios on your mobo and then windows patch for your OS. There is no cpu firmware upgrade.

Some of (if not all) the BIOS fixes are causing instability on some systems. I actually reverted the BIOS to an older version due to random crashes and restarts with the "updated and fixed" BIOS. I'll live with the Spectre vulnerability potential until a stable BIOS is released for my mobo.

Im on the ASUS Strix Z270E
Yeah, it was more of an FYI. Intel came out and said the update they issued was having issues. So the BIOSes based on this update may cause system instability, where previously the same system would have been stable.

Its best to wait right now till Intel releases a fix that actually works to all the vendors like Dell, HP, Asus etc.

Gigabyte finally released a bios update for my z270 itx and apart from initial hiccups getting back to a stable 4.8oc, it is stable now.

Only thing I noticed is on startup it takes longer for everything to load.

Updated the wife's laptop bios which seemed to instant boot but haven't played with it enough to notice if it takes longer or not
