Hi will someone tell me how to set and what hardware is needed to set up dual monitor viewing?

My current video card isn't anything special but I can use my tv in either clone or spanning mode with a S Video cable. It may be capable for dual viewing also I don't know. It has a dvi jack but I don't have a dvi cable yet. It is Nvidia FX5200 128mb that came with my dell so I don't have a manual and it is the last piece of hardware that remains from the piece of ( Censored ) dell.

Anyway one of my monitors can be hooked up to a dvi jack. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Ok, you already have win-xp. Your vid card supports two outputs. All you need is another monitor and plug it in. If all you have or can get are analog monitors just get a DVI to VGA adaptor and plug it in.

I believe your videocard has two outputs (one DVI one VGA)...So it should support dual monitor.

Now I don't know if there is built in software, of there's a specific piece of software you need to use for this, but I'm sure someone can answer this question :)


(I believe ATi drivers let you set up dual monitors, so I would assume it'd be the same with nVidia, but not much experience with their cards so I'd wait for more input)

I also have fx5200. I have two crt monitors, one plugged into vga port and one using a dvi>vga adapter.

the monitors will work together in clone mode, but Im having trouble getting them to span. The nearest option I have is to use tv as second monitor.

Im trying to set this up on Windows 2000, which is detecting my card as a 64mb version and not 128mb version - im thinking maybe there is problem with my motherboard not detecting dual ramdac?
 
Also you should look into a program called Ultramon when you get your dual monitors set up...
