How do I quiet down my pump?

I just started watercooling and everything is going pretty good but the pump vibrates my case a little bit and I get a low buzzing noise from my pump/case. I can make it stop by kind of squeezing my case panels together but thats the only way. The pump is mounted with 3M double sided tape like I was told but is there anything else I can do? I want this thing to be silent!

You can try to isolate it from the case by using some thicker foam underneath it. Or suspend it in the air using some bungie cord type material.

1) Your picture is not working
2) That's really vague... looks to me like it's just bolted down to the case w/ a metal clamp, which has the potential to increase the noise.

Care to explain a little?

Worked great.

BEST MOD EVER!!!! Seriously that was the most satisifaction I've ever gotten from my "Charter Communications" rubber mouse pad!!!

I would suggest going to your local hardware store, and getting some foam insulation that is used for behind light-switches and electrical outlets outdoors. It comes in little rectangles with cutouts in the middle, but you can just leave the cutouts in. Just double them up and put them under your pump before you bolt it to your case, and then do the same thing to your case feet.

does my pic work....?

I showed you that pic in reference to the above post, which states using mousepad to mount your pump. I simply cut a mouse pad and got 2 sheets of aluminum then bolted it all down making layers.

Really helps with cutting down noise!!!

I've never WCd myself, but I read an article about somebody glueing the impeller on the inside of the pump, they said that got rid of a lot of the 'churning' noise. Well, that's google fodder anyways.

This will not let the pump start up in many cases. The reason the impellor is free spinning is so that when it starts, it can work up enough inertia in the mag drive unit to begin pumping the water. Without this, the impellor will only jiggle and not pump anything. The assembly needs this little start up boost, otherwise, you will either have a dead pump or a dead computer very quickly.

Ever notice how the pump sometimes clicks a few times before it turns on? This is what it is doing.

You can mount the pump on strips of velcro. This will hold it in place and also provide great vibration absorbtion. It is also easy to take off and put back on, and it usually strong enough to move to lan parties this way.
