How do I limit bandwidth?

I have a netgear wireless router/modem in one and I dont see an option to set a bandwidth usage amount. Can someone help me out.
 
You really ought to post the model of the hardware in question (router) when you ask this type of question.

 
If you want to limit the bandwidth on the router for specific hosts or services you will need QoS which it doesn't look like this router has.

There are some routers where you can install a new firmware called DD-WRT which has QoS functionality. The list of supported routers is here:

If you want to limit the bandwidth on the machine locally you can use software called Netlimiter.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
