How do I know what codec a WMV need?

I can't play a WMV file and I got this error, but how do I know what Codec to look for in the internet

VC-1, apparently. It's probably content taken from a Blu-ray or HD-DVD disc, or it could be one taken off one of those special DVDs that offers WMV HD content also.

WMP11 and WMP12 (in Windows 7) should play those files natively without issues.
 
does media classic latest able to play VC1? Or 1 of the latest Nero?

As I don't have Windows 7 nor Vista, I don't plan on it

Edit: I got it to work w/ an old Windows media player ver 9, but I rather avoid microsoft software if possible
 
When you install WMP11 (if you haven't already) that will install the codec necessary to handle that particular WVC-1 codec that file is apparently using. After that, WMP11 or MPC (or MPC-HC) should - note I'm saying they should be able to play it without issues.
