how do i install windows 10 without using a cd?

i know how to install a windows OS via CD. it's pretty simple, just insert CD, follow instructions, etc. been doing it that way since vista.

but i heard that now you just buy some usb flash drive and install it that way. so how does that process work exactly?
 
Download the windows media creation tool. Insert usb. Select usb. Enjoy.

Edit:... I should add, you'll have to enter the BIOS and set the usb for first boot device, just like you would for a cd.
 
the easiest way I've found is to download the Windows Media Creation Tool, insert your own USB flash drive, and the tool will automatically download the latest version and make an installer on the USB.

They do ask that the USB stick be at least 8GB. Just make sure you configure it with the right version that your license is for.
 
I haven't used a disc to install an OS since Vista. Many somewhat recent computers don't even have optical drives anymore.
