How do I get 5.1 to work?

Ok i just bought the x-530s and they are all hooked up perfectly but the rear and the front middle aren't producing sound. So...how do i fix my onboard sound to 5.1?
 
Go to the control panel->sounds and choose advanced then choose 5.1 channels. That will set windows up. Also check the soundpanel software that it came with to make sure that it is setup for 5.1.

Are you trying to play stereo music?
