Okay I know how to enable HDMI on an HD monitor but if I watch DVD's on this monitor the only way i can get HD is if its a small window I want full screen High definition what program do i have to use for full screen HD? any free ones? Thanks

DVD's are not HD. They can be upscaled by maximizing it or playing it full screen, but they are not inherently HD.

Go buy Blu-Ray.

to get full hd your source has to be HD content (1080p)

What?

You need a hdmi outlet on your cpu, if you dont have that, you can not avail it.
There are some DVI to HDMI convertor cables and also some DVI to HDMI convertr cables but I dont know if the give the same output (1080p)

ok my computer is setup like this I have dual GTX 260's so it disables my onboard gpu i have an hdmi slot on my mobo but idk if it works since i have dual gpu's i have a dvi to hdmi adapter that came with my gtx 260

You're good to go. If you want HD video you'll need a blu-ray drive ($60 on newegg). Also HD DVD's do not work on a regular dvd player.

HD-DVDs are not Blu Ray, they are both different formats to play High Definition films.
HD-DVD is dead so new releases will not come out in that format, but there are a lot of cheap older movies for sale.
Its not as easy to get HD-DVDs playing though.

The LG GGC-H20L Blu Ray player will play HD-DVDs and PowerDVD 9 Ultra Blu Ray software can be made to play them with a hack.
If you arent very good with hacking software, you might want to get a friend to help.
The GGC-H20L will also play DVDs.

If your Computer works ok on your TV via HDMI, it will be ready to play back movies already.
You then need the GGC-H20L player and Power DVD 9 software.

Yeah,

And one of the reviewers of that drive mentions that some updating of the Software Player is needed:

"Pros: Great drive, plays everything perfectly, and really that's why I give it 5 stars.
Cons: The program is comes with, PowerDVD8, is a pain because updating it (Which I needed to in order to watch the movie I put in), this is because there are like 5 different updates for basically the same thing, but only 1 works, and sometimes even though you got the right one, it doesn't want to work the first time..."

HD content can also be gotten via a USB TV tuner/cable device. And the Apple iTunes store has some 720p movies and TV shows for downloading.

Otherwise, I think Steve Jobs was right about Blu-Ray being a "bag of hurt". Although the gamers with their Slim PS3 units at $299 seem to have a good value on a Blu-Ray player.

Peace to you all,
C. Livingstone

By the way, what OS are you using?

When your computer is on, does the eject button, eject the Blu-ray drive?

If so can you go into System under Control Panel and see the hardware?

If not, can you plug the sata into another port on the motherboard, or switch it with another?

Did you install the PowerDVD software that came with the drive? Not all software players will play Blu-ray unless it is specific to play it.
