How do I fix this latency between audio and video

MPEG-2 video. There is a one second latency between the time you see the action and the time you hear the action. I opened in VirtualDub and put a -1000ms skew correction and it seems to have fixed it. Only problem is, how do I save the fixed MPEG? All I can see is to export as an AVI file, which will mean I will have to re-encode (again) to MPEG. Not cool. How can I just offset the A/V by -1000ms?

Generally, you would split the video from the audio, and then remux it with a -1000ms delay on the audio.

"Demux" is seperating the streams, "remux" is combining. For this kind of work I generally use TMPGEnc. On that program, you can list "Streams" and save the audio, then you can save the file using "Direct Stream Copy" and save it with no audio. (to another name)
