.asx, I really want to get this movie off a server but there's only the .asx

Is there a way to download the movie (not the file that streams the movie)
 
Not as an ASX file. Its encoded that way. There is a way around it, because your PC 'caches' it on the system, look in your Temporary files for LARGE movies (ASX, or other files names).

You can't directly download .asx files.

You could rename the file .mpg instead of .asx after downloading it. Thi sworks with .dat files (vcds) and .vob (dvds), and should work with .asx.
 
I found where it's coming from, looking at it in NOTEPAD.

But what's mms:// ? I can't seem to download the movie from the mms://
