how do i do a fps test

How to do it with the game's inbuilt code... That is from the game console...
 
Don't feel too bad my brothers in law's computer scores a whooping 200 on 3DMark05.

Fraps is a program that you runs while you play your game and displays your FPS in the corner of the screen.

How could it not mean much to him? It allows any game to show the fps values. That is, you don't need to do the console specific command. And I, along with most probably, find fraps to be very accurate. Hardocp uses it as well. If you're looking for console specific commands, here are some:


Raven Shield - pull down console, type fps

Unreal Tournament 2004 - pull down console, type stat fps

Quake 3 - pull down console, type cg_drawfps 1 (works for other opengl games also)

I'd personally just use fraps. :cool:

If you mean benchmarks, then some good ones are Aquamark 3, 3dmark01-05, Quake 3, etc
