I have 2 partitions set up on my pc. 1 runs xp the other linux.

I just got a hold of a vista upgrade disk that I'd like to have take over the whole HD. The vista setup cannot delete or resize partitions for some reason, so i need delete the linux partition from inside XP. I need XP to upgrade to vista since its an upgrade disc.

Whats the easiest way to delete my linux partition while in windows XP?

I thought XP could still toast non-standard file allocation tables, they would read as Non-DOS or something. Might be able to do it from the disk management area. If not, a legitimate file system thingy, like partition magic would easily do it.

Use a GParted Live CD to delete the partition.... you may want to go ahead and format it to NTFS (which GParted will do) as well simply to ensure that the Vista installer will see it.. I have a Vista machine with an ext3 partition behind the Vista install..... and Vista doesn't even acknowledge that the partition is even there......
