Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
hi i wounder if it would be possible to make a file server so my freind can transfer some of his files onto my pc via ftp or something i have a cable modem and a router if that changes anything thanks in advance.
If you both have NICs you could just buy a crossover cable...assuming you can mover you pc's near each other if not, you could set up an ftp server using free ftp server software but it will be slow.
Yea, free FTP server software is your answer. It's changed a lot since I messed with it a few years ago, I wouldn't know where to start in reccomending a specific app, try some.
Like the other poster said... it's going to be very slow because of the limited upload bandwidth you get from the average ISP.
As a comparison... I can upload at around 768kbits/s whereas over a direct ethernet connection I can transfer much faster than that, theoretically 100mbit... If he has a lot of files you need i'd reccomend you just haul his computer over to your place and hook up a crossover and get some Microsoft File and Print sharing action going on. Have a few beers and watch TV while you transfer the stuff.
