How can I set a custom screen resolution?

I want to set my display to 1520x960. But, it is not one of the available options. I tried the program powerstrip but it does not do anything.

Is there any program, some registry setting or modification of an .inf file that I can set a custom resolution?

Thanks.
 
Doesn't ATI have this as well? Haven't used an ATI card in ages.
