Hey guys, quick rundown of my System Specs:
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
Dual Core AMD Opteron 165
GeIL Value 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) GE1GB3200B (x2)
Cas Latency 3
Timing 3-8-4-4
and 2 GeiL Value 512mb chips of unknown speed (can not find the specs) to give me a total of 3GB of Ram
Vista Premium 32 Bit
ATI 1950 XT (256mb)
When doing the Vista Performance Evaluation I get the following ratings:
Processor 4.7
Memory 4.6
Graphics 5.9
Gaming graphics 5.8
HD 5.0
I would like to raise this all around to a 5.0 and obviously i could run a faster processor or OC the one i have, however my ram seems to be my bottleneck right now. Since this ram is CHEAP i went for quantity over quality (obviously) and i'm thinking now this was a mistake.
My questions are:
How can i tell if I have my ram setup properly for dual channel?
Does anyone know if my motherboard can support DDR 2 ?
And finally is the ram really my bottleneck here right now, or am i barking up the wrong tree here...
