I dont dink with air cooling any longer, but my work rig is air cooled. I am running at 66 idle now and when I put in Doom 3 it gets above 70 and locks. I am running a 1700@2.2 1.85v. Sink is a MCX462-V. I dont get what is up. I have a 92 besides the sink trying to cool it down. I have re applied thermal and it had no effect. Could I have some sort of fuckered sensor sending false reading? No, that would not cause me to lock. I am confused.
I am one who bitches at kids who always ask "is this too hot" and have no problems, but in this case I am actually having problems, as to why I posted.
**Just took of the hsf. It looks liek the thermal grease baked onto the chip. It wiped off, but left these nasty marks....wonder if that was my problem..burnt grease.
** re applied thermal grease and droppd to 63, I still feel that is hot. Time to fire up Doom 3....damn I love my job.
