If a user and their friends begin harassing you to respond to PM's and such is this a sign not to sell to these people?

It was less than 12 hours for a response to get back to them about selling the item for less.

From your experience is this indicative of more problems to come?

I wouldn't sell to them for being douche bags. You have a right to a life. Along with that you have a right to not respond for any reason to anyone on the forums unless it's a moderator in regards to something other then a sale or something of that nature. You can click these peoples names then click the ignore link that should solve your problem.

This initial guy (user) wouldn't be roshanx would it? I say this because he is the one who liked the (I'm assuming friend of the friend) in the 390 thread. First off this friend of a friend has no damn business messaging you in private or posting in your thread about how him and his buddy are butt hurt that they have no life and sit at a computer all day. It has nothing to do with him.

If the user above is the one who initially contacted you (aside from these recent events) I wouldn't sell to him with being a member here since 2014 and only having 6 posts. This means he is a troll and shouldn't even be in the FS section. With that being said I wouldn't sell to the butt hurt buddy either because it screams 3rd party scamming.

The first rule for the FS/FT section is there for a reason:

The FS/T forum has its own set of specific rules and has a required 100 post minimum to participate.

If what I suspect above then that rule isn't met.

To protect yourself No don't sell to either/any one of them.

Looking at your heatware from the 390 FS thread your new to selling here. Your picking one of the best most populated FS sections in the hardware forums network. The next down the pike would be Anandtech I believe. So many of them have died down and don't have a bunch of traffic. The most is probably harwareswap over on Reddit although it's pretty close to the population here I believe. I just think there are more new FS/FT/etc threads there throughout a day. So you may look into those two places also. Hardwareswap though is strict on how to post threads and what to do with them so if you go there make sure to look up the rules first.

Don't let what is going on discourage you from selling and buying on these forums and others. This isn't the norm of the majority of the members but there is always a bad seed or two anywhere you go. That's why members make up DNT (DO NOT TRADE) lists that they keep to themselves. If the bad seeds don't get banned for something they will get shunned from the community by no one working with them and they will move on and piss off and scam others elsewhere.

Like a school bully. Act like they don't bother you they eventually move on to someone/somewhere else.

Trust your gut and exercise your right to tell them to piss off if you want. You're under no obligation to answer them immediately or sell them something you own. If they persist in pming after you send them on their way, ignore them.

    It was roshanx.

Thanks for all of the information. That's really helpful and expands a lot on my thoughts of the matter.

I appreciate it. I used to sell a lot on eBay and this being more of a personal experience I felt a bit obligated to respond and justify actions. You're right. Generally I don't even respond to low bids and this kind of behavior.

    Great point. Ignore it is.

I have a lot more things to sell and this was getting off to a bad start. There's a bad apple in every bunch, and I'm not keen on having things be difficult.

Buyer issues are such a problem that when I used to run a business selling things on eBay we'd often simply refund the money, apologize if we did anything wrong like sending them pink instead of "hot pink" and tell them to keep the item as they were typically low dollar amounts.

With higher dollar items like this I'm not interested in conflicts. This is supposed to be a good experience. Seller has something, buyer needs / wants something = both people happy

    It should be that simple.

Had issues with him too - just didn't bother responding to him. No obligations to communicate if you aren't in a trade with them.

It's relatively easy to tell the good apples from the bad around these parts. Just pay attention to their post activity on the forum, and more often than not you should be golden.

Personally I usually expect responses within 24 hours as a general courtesy, as I do the same, but if the person doesn't respond, I don't hound them, I just go elsewhere.

I always check the Heatware of the person I'm selling to and look for trade issues in their past.

I know this happened a while ago, but I missed it..if this happens again, report the PM and it will be dealt with accordingly.
