hot tbred 1800

I don't quite know what to atribute this to, but all of a sudden my system is getting quite hot. I have the system shut down alarm in CMOS set at 65c and if I stress the system even the slightest bit (3dmark03) the temp shoots up, the alarm goes off and she shuts down. It's difficult to say exactly what shes running at since my digital thermometer's lead is under the heatsink, but not touching the core. It now reads about 42c but its got to be about 55c at the core. The Soyo utilitiy says 39c but that is flat out bs.I ran this rig at 1812Mhz for months and never had this problem. Could the chip be going nova on me ? I'm running a 120mm intake at the bottom of my case and two 80mm blow holes at the top any insight would be appreciated. the only new change is the 9800 pro from an 8500np

Try reseating your heat sink. Good chance thats your culprit.

also make sure the thermal paste is sufficiently spread on the cpu and HS
