Do you need to shut down computer when you hot swap drives? I am interesting in getting one to work with all the spare sata drives I have, but don't really want to shutdown the computer to do so. And what's the best model that will fit in a 5'25 bay? I searched newegg and not sure which is the best... help please? thanks!
 
The idea of hot swapping is that it can be done while the computer is running.
In most instances hot-swapping is a feature of the driver and the controller. Unless both support hot-swapping it will not be working.
Most Sata enclosures should be hot swap-able.
