how hot are these thngs supposed to get? it seems like the one in my sony comp has been very hot lately. Its not hot enough to burn me when i touch it but it doesnt seems like it could be close. Are they supposed to get this hot?

How hot? Got a thermometer?

And make sure the fan is working in it.
 
Dust is another big factor, as well. Same as anything else, if the components of the PSU get covered in dust, they can overheat.
 
Keep it as cool as possible.
If you feel it is too hot replace it asap.
The temp you describe is too hot.
