HOT - Dell 2407 A04 for $517 Shipped

Man, I'd love to have one of those. All I need is extra spending cash. Good find!

Edit - it's showing $609 for me. I must be missing something.

Hopefully someone got it for the low price before they raised it. $609 is ok still, but not much better than average.

The refurbished item is $509 - http://www.apparelandtech.com/dell-ultrasharp-2407wfpr-monitor-1920x1200-p-98.html. It was $495 yesterday.

The brand new item is $609 - http://www.apparelandtech.com/dell-ultrasharp-2407wfpr-monitor-1920x1200-p-49.html. The brand new item was never listed for $495 - not sure where people saw that directly on the site.

Side by side - http://www.apparelandtech.com/dell-2407wfp-monitor-c-41.html

They're listed on pricegrabber with pretty good reviews - http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/apparelandtechcom/r/4572

Why should I take a chance on buying from these guys, when I can get it directly from Costco for $609 delivered? :D

They have a kick butt warranty, and do not have to be worried about getting ripped off!!!

Not saying you should, but Costco charges sales tax in 38 states unless you're in a state that doesn't have state sales tax (AK, DE, MT, OR, or NH) plus they state "THE PRELIMINARY SHIP DATE IS 12-15 BUSINESS DAYS." For most of us, the sales tax is 6 to 7%. And Costco doesn't carry the 2407WFP-HC yet. That kick butt warranty from Costco is from the past - they changed this nationwide back in March. You now have 90 days to return this item - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17350641, http://www.costco.com/Service/FeaturePageLeftNav.aspx?ProductNo=11204333. While a computer monitor is not a computer, my local club deems it one. - YMMV

I looked at their ratings on pricegrabber compared to their competitors and it's much better, even compared to Dell. I also found it interesting that they offer a buySAFE bond, which is seen on eBay a lot from big eBay PowerSellers that guarantees you get what they advertise. For best protection when worried about getting ripped off anywhere, always fund your purchase with a credit card. I always use a credit card even from trusted vendors for cash back anyway.

Core2-D2 - please post your experience with them and which monitor (2407WFP or 2407WFP-HC) you ordered.

isn't 16ms response kind of slow?

I mean I see plenty of other lcd's with like 2-5ms reponse times these days..

Some valid points, but some updates need to be made to your note:

1) The Dell Monitor is in fact not linked to the 90 day return policy. In discussion with their staff, and looking at the website, it falls into the OLD category. That is, first 3 years thru Dell, then after that time period if anything happens it is up to Costco to refund the moeny. I am fully aware of the new policy, but Monitors do NOT fall into this category. I was surprised of this.

2) As for tax, it is $609 delivered including tax and shipping, unless I am missing something. (Becasue it is purchased off their website) Still researching Costco policies, as I am not a member as of this time.

For education, what is the primary difference in the 2407WFP and the 2407WFP-HC?

Thank You..

1. It all depends on your local club and as I said, YMMV. It's like arguing with the post office...or Staples managers...depending on who you talk to, you may get a different answer each time.

2. Costco charges sales tax for shipments to any state in which it has a physical location. Just because the order is online doesn't change the tax laws - if this were the case everyone would order online to avoid sales tax. Ordered anything from Staples.com, Target.com or Walmart.com - you'll be charged sales tax! Costco advertises the 2407WFP as shipping and handling included, not shipping and handling and tax included.

The 2407WFP-HC shows 92% of the color gamut whereas the 2407WFP shows 72% of the color gamut.

They're just being honest with their ratings. The Ultrasharp widescreens aren't TN panels, so they usually have a response of 12-16ms BWB. Other manufacturers also tend to rate by Gray-to-gray response times.

Thank you for the informative update.

Sounds like I need to focus on the new model. (2407WFP-HC)

Here is the write-up:

Well, I am about ready to pull the trigger on my new purchase of the UltraSharp 2407WFP-HC Monitor.

As a LTC in the Military I can purchase this for $611.10. (NO shipping, NO tax and the 3 year warranty.

This is the best deal I have found. Let me know, if you have found a better source than this.

Thanks for all of your input!

I pullled the trigger on this on Friday, and got my FedEx shipping number today. LCD is on the way! ;)

Got the 2407 on Friday, Apparel and Tech charged my CC immediately and I got a tracking number from FedEx the next day. Arrived in great condition and it kicks a$$. It's almost too big!

92% of which color gamut? Adobe?

These are getting close to the point where I may finally get an LCD. I'll loose a 15% in vertical resolution, but I can live with that if the colors are finally close to a good CRT.

He was saying it has more accurate color reproduction. It's not application specific.

I'm not talking about an application. Adobe 98, sRGB and Wide Gamut RGB are 3 different gamuts/color spaces.

I could be wrong, but if I tell you monitor A is 100% accurate and and Monitor B is 95% accurate, that doesn't mean the former is the best, if A is 100% accurate within SRGB and B is in Adobe, WG or some other super wide gamut.

Of course I could be wrong. I generally find the colorimetry very hard to understand.

I'm not sure if the Dell Japanese page is accurate, but the page at http://tinyurl.com/2j4ds4 notes that the color gamut is based upon RGB. Every other page from Dell and others just mentions the 92% NTSC color gamut.
