i finally got in my new mb and to my dismay bios is reporting 68degrees temps. the heatsink also feels very hot to the touch. it never felt even warm with my asus board. i'm installing windows now so i wont be able to see another bios reading for a few min. should i stop the install now and figure this out or will the cpu shut itself down?

I know this is going to sound demeaning, but did you forget to plug in the heatsink fan?

Many times i have seen people forget this particular step and once they plug it back in it goes down almost immediately.

its definitely on...i noticed in the bios it has different settings for the cpu fan. pwm, voltage,or auto. i changed it to voltage when it looked like it was struggling to start up on auto.

lol sorry about the panic guys. i'm sure you know how i feel. i guess zerotherm specifies a certain way to mount the hsf and i had it turned around. now i'm at idling at 19. never thought it would make such a massive difference.

Do you live in a fridge? I do not know your entire setup but that is a pretty cold reading for a plain HSF unless your room is freezing.

its about 40 outside and i have the windows open. its pretty comfortable in the room.

Comfortable? You must live in Michigan... along with me, who hates the fact that he lives in Michigan.
