In view of the most recent events with Tobit, who had a couple projects going on, as well as some side items I have been working on, and many new developments with the DC community, I think its time for a rather genuine, but harsh reality. Its time for a Hostile Takeover on the DC forums here. Starting with finishing the unfinished. Doesnt make sense now, but it will.

Starting with this: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1499793 Tobit's BigOS. I have grabbed this from someone else and am going to start on trying to do a few changes and fixes on this, which right now as it is, is a very good setup. But we need MOAR!

I will add in a few features, such as Optical Drivers, HDD IDE drivers / support as well as making this a completely LIVE disc, which will mean only a small HDD required for storage (so 20gb to 40gb standard ATA 100/133 drives).

Second, in his absense, I will also take over the interviews at this point until his return, unless upon his return he no longer wishes to do interviews.

Theres no reason to see features go in the distance in view of this.

Third, a way for those who have needs, to open up to some of the heavy hitters here who may be going through ALOT of the same issues. I am not talking about hardware at this point. There are alot of forumers here who have alot of physical issues or know others who do who may be able to offer some sort of moral support in view of the times. No this is not meaning a version of the GenMay forums. This will be serious help to those who need it, mental and physical issues are nothing to be poked fun at or flared. I have ausburgers, add and skitzo and most recently my surgery dealing with my anurysm, so I know alot about having issues, and even getting to the edge of the cliff and trying to find the only thing to hold you up when your ready to let go.

In my view, theres no reason a person should EVER need to take their own life, NONE.

We all are fighting for something, or someone if not ourselves. Dodging bullets is part of our everyday life here in the forums. Some of us may not admit to it, but we have all been down a tough path. I will not see my friends hurt themselves, or let go. I give my hand to anyone who needs it as I would expect the same from anyone ive delt with (Kendrak, Elledan, Vaulter)

Finally, in this takeover, I will initiate a new project as well. Project AMD!KillB0><. In which I will be setting up a Ph 2 955deneb, OC'd to hell (4.2ghz) for an attempt at -bigadv, where it will probally be BAKED!

BRING IT ON, ITS TIME TO GET BAKED!

Very nice, was just wo derig about his OS, now well have to leave his name in it in memory :)

Sounds like a plan....thanks for stepping up Freaky. PM inbound...

Sounds good man. Please add gpu support to it and I'll start testing it asap with my dedicated i7 folding box.

I will be enlisting a few people to test out Tobit's client as I continue work on it. There will be a requirement to do this test when they are ready to be distributed, but once its finished the requirement will be removed.

Requirement; Prior LINUX knowledge WILL BE required for testing as you will also be providing feedback on all work being done on the system.

What do you think about setting up a google code or sourceforge page for this project? That way multiple people who have in depth linux knowlege can help with the builds?

I could also host a private SVN repository on my storage server if you guys would like.

I'm only familiar with the gui based stuff like ubuntu so count me out with testing. I'll just wait till you have the guides ready. Maybe I'll put together a ubuntu based solution and see how it works.

Ubuntu is a somewhat simple to set up and get running. I can help if you need it.

I'm looking forward to a striped down live CD. Notfreds on steroids

Yea exactly. And we definitely have the resources here to do it, but I think that this is going to be more than a one man job.

Glad you're stepping up to the plate, FrEaKy. Filling Tobit's shoes will not be an easy task. I didn't know you were very familiar with Linux. That is great knowledge to have. You have my support if you need it.

Count me in for BigOS testing...I know my way around a command line pretty well. I just downloaded the LinuxForge.net image, but will gladly scrap it for BigOS.

While I might not be able to help with any programming, I will be ready to try out the bigOS when done.

Also hoping to throw more hardware into the mix pretty soon to try and fill some points that Tobit would be producing.

While it is really easy for me to say: Get better!

I just downloaded the LinuxForge.net image....
Did you get it to install? I couldn't get the image to install from the disc I made with the .iso. I kept on receiving errors that it couldn't read the files from the disc, and it aborted the write to the HD.

Haven't tried yet. My current bigadv unit will finish up this evening, so I was going to try it then. I may end up waiting a bit, since my timing isn't as good as I thought it would be.
